Kings Dominion
Kings Dominion sits in Doswell, Virginia, about 25 minutes north of Richmond. The park has one of the strongest regional coaster line-ups on the US East Coast: Intimidator 305 (a 305-foot giga coaster), Twisted Timbers (a Rocky Mountain Construction hybrid), Apple Zapple, Dominator (a 215-foot floorless coaster), and Racer 75. A Soak City water park is included with admission during summer.

Weekdays in May, September and October are dramatically calmer. Michigan's Adventure is the state's largest theme park, sitting in Muskegon on Lake Michigan's east coast. It's a mid-sized park best known for Shivering Timbers - a 125-foot-tall wooden out-and-back coaster consistently rated among the country's best woodies. Other rides include Thunderhawk suspended coaster, Wolverine Wildcat, and a full WildWater Adventure water park included with admission.
Michigan's Adventure has a short operating season (roughly May to early September) with peak crowds on summer weekends and during US school holidays. Weekdays are usually very relaxed, with queue times on most rides staying under 20 minutes.
