Legoland Japan
LEGOLAND Japan opened in 2017 in Nagoya, on a waterfront site in the Minato ward. It's smaller than the American and European LEGOLANDs but packs the full experience into a compact footprint: The Dragon coaster through LEGO Castle, a Submarine Adventure, and a MINILAND showcasing Japanese cities in LEGO brick. A SEA LIFE aquarium sits next door as a separate attraction.
Japanese school holidays (Golden Week, summer break, Obon) bring major crowds to LEGOLAND Japan, with queue times on headline attractions stretching over an hour. Tokyo Disneyland in Urayasu, just east of Tokyo, opened in 1983 as the first Disney park outside the United States and is run by the Oriental Land Company rather than Disney itself. It follows the classic castle-park layout with Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean, but is best known for the rides that only exist here: Pooh's Hunny Hunt, Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek! and the Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast in the Fantasyland expansion.
It is one of the most visited theme parks in the world, and queue times for the Fantasyland rides can run past two hours on a normal day. Japanese public holidays and Golden Week are the dates to avoid. Check the live wait times on the day and use the crowd calendar to pick a quieter weekday if you can.
