04 · The parks

What each one is.

Nigloland

Nigloland is a family-run park in Dolancourt in the Aube, south-east of Paris, open since 1987 and named after its hedgehog mascot Niglo. The rides are spread across themed villages: Alpina Blitz is the big coaster, Krampus Expédition is the water ride, Donjon de l'Extrême is the drop tower, and Spatiale Experience is an indoor space coaster. Most of the rest is aimed at families, from Chevauchée Fantastique to the Rivière Canadienne log flume.

The season runs from spring to early November, finishing with a Halloween season. French school holidays and summer weekends bring the biggest crowds, while weekdays in May, June and September are usually quiet. Check the live queue times before you go and use the crowd calendar to plan your visit.

Parc Asterix

Parc Astérix is a French theme park in Plailly, about 35 km north of Paris, themed around the Asterix comics. It opened in 1989 and is now one of France's biggest parks - highlights include OzIris (an inverted coaster through Egyptian theming), Tonnerre 2 Zeus (a large wooden coaster), Pegase Express, Goudurix, and the newer Toutatis double-launch coaster.

French school holidays - particularly the summer break in July and August - drive most of Parc Astérix's peak crowds, along with the Peur sur le Parc Halloween event. Midweek days in June and September are much calmer. Check live queue times for Toutatis and OzIris on arrival, and use our crowd calendar to plan your visit around French school holidays for shorter waits.
