About Wicker Man
Wicker Man at Alton Towers is a wooden coaster that opened in 2018, the first major woodie built in the UK in 20 years. Riders board specially-themed trains and pass three times through the burning effigy of the Wicker Man, with synchronised flame jets that fire as the train passes. The story is built around a fictional Beornen cult and the queue line and pre-show are heavily themed. Top speed 44 mph, ride duration around two and a half minutes.
Wicker Man is a crowd-pleaser more than a thrill chaser - smooth, photogenic and family-friendly above the height limit. Queues stay reasonable on most days but can reach 40-50 minutes when the park is busy. Riding at dusk on a Fright Nights evening is a different experience to a daytime ride, with the flame effects much more visible.
Wicker Man has averaged about 48 minutes of wait over recent weeks, and is typically busiest around 10am and quietest around 5pm. Over the last two weeks it has been open around 98% of the park's operating hours. It's typically quietest on Thursdays and busiest on Saturdays.
